Saxenda (Liraglutide) Weight Loss Injection pricing
Transparent and competitive pricing plans designed to help you manage your weight loss journey effectively.
What is Saxenda?
Saxenda (liraglutide 3.0 mg) is a prescription-only weight loss injection approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for use in adults with obesity or who are overweight with at least one weight-related health condition.
It belongs to a class of medicines called GLP-1 receptor agonists — drugs that mimic a hormone your body naturally produces after eating.
Saxenda is administered as a subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection once a day, using a pre-filled pen device. Unlike the newer GLP-1 injections Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide), which are given weekly, Saxenda requires a daily injection.
Our clinicians at Bliss will discuss whether Saxenda is the right choice for you, or whether a weekly option may be more suitable, as part of your personalised weight loss assessment.

Set off on the right foot with weight loss medication that’s proven to help you hit the ground running and reach your goals faster.
GLP-1 medications reduce cravings by directly influencing the brain's reward centre, reducing the urge to reach for unhealthy snacks.
GLP-1 medications help to lower the body's natural weight ‘set point’, so weight can continue to be lost without hitting a plateau.
By improving insulin sensitivity, GLP-1 medications can help manage weight for everyone - even those with slower metabolic rates.

How much weight could you lose?
Clinical trials for prescription weight loss medication show significant, sustained results for eligible adults. On average, patients in published studies lost between 14% and 21% of their body weight over 12 to 18 months — that's the equivalent of 12–18kg for someone who weighs 85kg.
Your individual results will depend on your starting weight, the treatment your clinician recommends, and how closely you follow your programme. Use the calculator below to see an estimate based on your details.

Frequently asked questions
How do I use the Saxenda pen?
Attach a new needle to the pen and prime it before first use. Dial to your prescribed dose, clean and pinch the injection site, insert the needle at 90 degrees, and hold the button for 6 seconds to deliver the full dose. Rotate injection sites (stomach, thigh, upper arm) with each injection. See the full pen guide above for step-by-step instructions.
What dose of Saxenda will I take?
Saxenda is started at 0.6 mg daily and increased by 0.6 mg each week until you reach the 3.0 mg maintenance dose in week 5. Each step lasts at least one week. Your Bliss clinician will advise if your dose escalation needs to be slowed due to side effects.
How long does a Saxenda pen last?
Each Saxenda pen contains 18 mg of liraglutide. At the maintenance dose of 3.0 mg per day, each pen lasts approximately 6 days. At lower escalation doses it lasts considerably longer — for example, at 0.6 mg/day the pen provides 30 doses (30 days). See the pen guide above for a full dose-by-dose breakdown.
How much does Saxenda cost in the UK?
Saxenda is a prescription medicine and cannot be purchased without a clinical consultation. At Bliss, pricing is transparent — see our pricing section above for current costs at each dose tier. Saxenda is not routinely available on the NHS for weight loss.
Does Saxenda work immediately?
Most patients notice a reduction in appetite within a few days of starting Saxenda. Measurable weight loss typically becomes visible from weeks 4–8, as the treatment dose increases and the full effect develops. Clinical trial data (SCALE programme) shows the full effect over a 56-week treatment period.
How much weight can I lose on Saxenda?
The SCALE clinical trial found that patients taking Saxenda at 3.0 mg/day, alongside diet and exercise, lost an average of 8.4% of body weight over 56 weeks.[1] Some patients lost significantly more.
For context, Wegovy (semaglutide) achieves ~15% and Mounjaro (tirzepatide) ~20% average weight loss in clinical trials. Speak to your Bliss clinician if you'd like to explore whether a newer treatment may be more effective for you.Can I split my Saxenda dose?
No. Saxenda pens are designed to deliver set dose increments (0.6 mg, 1.2 mg, 1.8 mg, 2.4 mg, and 3.0 mg) and cannot be partially dosed. If your current dose is causing side effects, contact your Bliss clinician — do not attempt to reduce the dose by splitting or partially injecting.
Where can I buy Saxenda in the UK?
Saxenda is a prescription-only medicine — it cannot be purchased without a clinical assessment and a valid prescription from a registered prescriber.
At Bliss, you can complete an online eligibility assessment and, if appropriate, receive a clinician-issued prescription and delivery from our GPhC-registered pharmacy. We offer one of the few clinician-led Saxenda services available online in the UK.What are the alternatives to Saxenda?
The main injectable alternatives to Saxenda are injectable Wegovy (semaglutide)and Mounjaro (tirzepatide), both of which are weekly injections and have shown higher average weight loss in clinical trials — approximately 15% for Wegovy and 20% for Mounjaro. Bliss prescribes all three treatments.
If you are already using Saxenda and considering a switch, speak to your Bliss clinician about whether a newer GLP-1 treatment could be more effective for you.

Kickstart your journey
Complete a short online health assessment — it takes around five minutes. A UK-registered Bliss clinician reviews your answers, confirms your eligibility and recommends a weight loss treatment plan tailored to your BMI and health profile. Your first prescription is dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy and delivered directly to your door.
Healthy, sustainable weight loss
Your treatment dose increases gradually — this is intentional. It gives your body time to adjust and helps minimise side effects. Most Bliss members begin to see consistent, measurable weight loss within 4–8 weeks. Your Bliss dietitian keeps your nutrition on track throughout, ensuring your weight loss is fat loss — not muscle.
Long-term results
For eligible members, the goal is sustained, clinically meaningful weight loss — typically 10–20% of body weight over 12 months. Unlike fad diets, a medically supervised weight loss programme is designed to produce results that last. Ongoing Bliss support ensures your progress is maintained, not reversed.
