Injectable weight loss treatments

Our clinician-prescribed GLP-1 injectable weight loss treatments are the most effective medical weight loss treatments available in the UK. Weekly self-administered injections work by reducing appetite, increasing feelings of fullness, and slowing digestion — helping you achieve clinically meaningful, sustained weight loss under medical supervision.

  • Clinically proven GLP-1 treatments — MHRA-licensed and clinician-prescribed
  • Once-weekly and daily self-administered weight loss injections — discreet and straightforward to use
  • Average weight loss of 15–21% of body weight in published clinical trials [1]
  • Bliss packages starting from £90 per month — inclusive of clinical support

These treatments may not be suitable for all patients. Eligibility is determined on an individual basis following a clinical assessment by a qualified prescriber, taking into account your medical history, current medications, and personal circumstances.

Tirzepatide
Activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors. This dual action helps regulate appetite, improve satiety, and support blood sugar balance. Many patients experience reduced food cravings and better portion control.

GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics a natural hormone involved in appetite regulation. It works by reducing hunger, increasing feelings of fullness, and slowing gastric emptying, helping you eat less and feel satisfied for longer.

Healthy weight loss

Your treatment dose increases gradually over the first weeks — this reduces side effects and gives your body time to adjust. Most Bliss members begin to see consistent weight loss within 4–8 weeks. Your Bliss dietitian monitors your nutrition throughout, ensuring you lose fat rather than muscle, and that your results are sustainable.

Long-term results

For eligible members, the goal is sustained, clinically meaningful weight loss — typically 10–21% of body weight over 12 months depending on the treatment prescribed. Unlike unsupported diet plans, a medically supervised weight loss programme is designed to deliver results that last beyond the treatment period. Ongoing Bliss support keeps you on track.

Weight loss treatment FAQs

  • Bliss weight loss treatments include clinician-led, medically supervised weight loss plans offering prescription weight loss medication — including weight loss injections and weight loss tablets— alongside personalised nutritional support.

Every treatment plan is assessed and approved by a GPhC-registered clinician based on your BMI, health history and goals.

All medications are MHRA-licensed and dispensed by our registered pharmacy. Bliss is not a diet plan — it is a regulated medical weight loss programme built around long-term results.

  • Clinical trial data shows that injectable GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 treatments generally produce the greatest weight loss results. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) demonstrated an average weight loss of up to 22.5% of body weight in the SURMOUNT-1 trial, making it the highest-performing licensed weight loss treatment currently available in the UK.

Wegovy (semaglutide) achieved up to 15% average weight loss in the STEP 1 trial.

Orlistat-based treatments (Alli, Orlos, Xenical) produce more modest results — around 10% at 12 months — but may be appropriate for some patients.

Treatment suitability depends on your BMI, medical history, previous weight loss attempts, and whether you are new to GLP-1 therapy or continuing from another provider.

  • Pricing at Bliss varies by treatment and dose. Injectable GLP-1 treatments start from £90 per month for 12-month plans and oral treatments from £87 per month for 12 month plans — all inclusive of your clinical assessment, ongoing clinician support and GPhC-registered dispensing. All weight loss treatments at Bliss can also be purchased as a one-off.

There are no hidden consultation fees. As your dose increases over time, your monthly cost may change. Full pricing is available on each individual treatment page.

  • All GLP-1 weight loss medications offered through Bliss are MHRA-licensed for use in eligible adults and have been assessed for safety in large-scale clinical trials running 68–72 weeks. Ongoing real-world safety data continues to support their use under medical supervision.

Your Bliss clinician monitors your progress throughout and can adjust or stop your treatment at any point. GLP-1 medications are contraindicated in certain conditions — your clinician screens for these at assessment.

  • Side effects vary by treatment and not everyone experiences them. Most are mild to moderate and improve as your body adjusts.

GLP-1 injectable and oral treatments e.g.,

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, and stomach discomfort. Nausea is most common when starting or increasing your dose and typically eases after the first few weeks. Fatigue, headaches, dizziness, and mild injection site reactions are also reported.

Less commonly, some people experience hair thinning, acid reflux, or a faster resting heart rate.

Rare but serious side effects include acute pancreatitis (severe, persistent abdominal pain that may spread to the back — stop treatment and seek medical attention immediately) and gallbladder problems. Staying well hydrated is important throughout treatment, as dehydration from vomiting or diarrhoea can occasionally affect kidney function.

    Orlistat e.g.,

Because orlistat blocks fat absorption, side effects are almost entirely digestive and directly linked to fat intake. These include oily stools, urgent or frequent bowel movements, flatulence, and loose stools — all of which are significantly reduced by following a low-fat diet. Orlistat can also reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K), so a daily multivitamin taken at bedtime is recommended.

Who should not take these treatments:

GLP-1 treatments are not suitable if you have, or have a family history of, medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2), a history of pancreatitis, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. They require caution in significant kidney or liver disease.

Orlistat is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have a malabsorption condition, cholestasis, or if you take warfarin, cyclosporin, or thyroid medication without close monitoring.

All treatments are assessed individually by a prescribing clinician before being recommended. If side effects feel unmanageable, contact our clinical team — adjusting your dose schedule or switching treatments can often help.

  • Most prescription weight loss treatments take several weeks to produce noticeable results, as doses are escalated gradually to minimise side effects.

With GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 injections such as Mounjaro and Wegovy, many patients begin to see changes within four to eight weeks of starting treatment.

Orlistat works differently — it begins blocking fat absorption from your very first dose — but total weight loss over time is typically lower than with injectable treatments.

Individual results vary depending on the treatment, starting dose, diet and activity levels. Your Bliss clinician will set realistic expectations as part of your personalised plan.

  • A specific diet is not required, but eating well alongside your weight loss treatment significantly improves results.

All Bliss members receive access to 1:1 nutritional support from registered nutritionalists as part of their Bliss programme — not generic meal plans, but personalised guidance based on your treatment, your goals and your lifestyle.

  • Yes. Where your treatment requires injections, sterile needles are provided with your medication. A sharps bin is also supplied where appropriate so you can dispose of used needles safely at home. We include clear guidance on safe administration and disposal to ensure your treatment is managed responsibly.

  • Starting GLP-1 treatment at Bliss is straightforward:

    1. A UK-registered clinician then reviews your answers to confirm you are eligible and selects the most appropriate treatment for you.
    2. First, complete a short online health assessment — this takes around five minutes and covers your BMI, medical history and weight loss goals.
    3. If approved, your medication is dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy and delivered directly to your door.

Throughout your treatment, you have access to ongoing clinical support to help you manage your plan, adjust your dose and track your progress. There is no need to visit a GP or pharmacy in person.
